Chamoli : An entrepreneurship outreach programme under the Mukhyamantri Udyamshala Yojana (MUY) was organised at the Government Postgraduate College, Gopeshwar, on Friday to promote self-employment opportunities among youth, women, self-help groups and local entrepreneurs across Chamoli district.
The programme, held in the college auditorium, brought together prospective entrepreneurs, micro and small business owners from rural and urban areas, financial institutions, training providers, departmental officials and members of the local community.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the programme from Mukhya Sevak Sadan in Dehradun, while his address was broadcast live at the Gopeshwar venue.
As part of the outreach campaign, an IEC and public awareness vehicle was flagged off to take information about the scheme to villages and local communities across the district.
The vehicle will travel through different development blocks and Nyaya Panchayat areas from August 21 to September 1, providing information on MUY and other self-employment and welfare schemes.
Officials said the outreach vehicle will provide guidance on eligibility, the application process, training, technical support, financial assistance, subsidies, entrepreneur registration, branding, product packaging and market access. Interested residents will also receive guidance on setting up enterprises suited to their skills, interests and locally available resources.
The campaign will cover Gopeshwar, Mandal, Chamoli, Birhi, Helang, Joshimath, Tapovan, Nandprayag, Ghat, Karnaprayag, Simli, Narayanbagar, Tharali, Dewal, Gairsain, Mehalchauri and Pokhari, among other areas.
During the programme, Anjali Devi of Hariyali Swavlambi Sahakarita was presented a cheque of ₹6 lakh to support the setting up of an enterprise and operation of a Hilans restaurant.
Officials from horticulture, agriculture, industries, fisheries, tourism and other departments briefed participants on departmental schemes, subsidies, grants and assistance available for starting businesses based on local resources.
They said MUY will support aspiring entrepreneurs through training, technical guidance, enterprise development, branding, packaging, quality improvement and access to markets. Special emphasis is also being placed on helping local products reach wider markets.
Several departmental stalls, registration desks for youth and self-help groups, product and enterprise exhibition spaces, guidance counters and banking and loan assistance desks were also set up at the venue.
Minister of State rank Harak Singh, Prem Singh, Nagar Palika chairman Sandeep Rawat, BJP district president Gajpal Bartwal, district panchayat vice-chairman Laxman Singh, Bhesaj Sangh president Satendra Aswal, Arun Maithani, Vinod Kanwasi, Raghuvir Bisht, Nandi Rana, Chief Development Officer Dr Abhishek Tripathi, Project Director Anand Singh and other officials, local entrepreneurs, SHG members and youth attended the programme.
